Inviting your team and friends

Add a crew member by text or from the Team page, and share your personal invite link with other contractors. Invites always go out from your own phone. What a new member can do on day one, and how seats and prices work.

Tack grows the way trades do: by word of mouth. You can add your crew in one text, and you have a few personal invites to give to other owners you trust. Every invite goes out from your own phone, so it shows up as a normal text from you, not a message from a number they don’t know. We never text someone who hasn’t signed up.

Owners and admins can text:

add mike 512-555-0142 to my crew

invite sarah to the team

agrega a juan 512-555-0142 al equipo

You get the invite back with a link that opens your Messages app with the text already written:

Here’s the invite for Mike. Tap to text it from your phone: sms:+15125550142?&body=…

Or share this link another way: https://…/j/…

When Mike joins, they can add and look things up in your tools, but not send invoices or emails. I’ll let you know when they’re in.

Tap it, check the words, and hit send. The text Mike gets is from you:

Hey Mike, I’m adding you to Garcia Plumbing on Tack so you can update jobs by text. Tap to join: https://…

No number? Leave it out (“invite sarah to the team”) and pick who to send it to in Messages. You can add a few words to the request too:

Say What it does
“…to my crew as an admin” Makes them an admin (they can manage the team and tools too).
“…to my crew and let him send invoices” Lets them use your company tools fully, including sending.
“…to my crew, no tools” Adds them without your company tools; share them later on the Connections page.

Mike taps the link and signs in with his phone (one text, no password). If you put his number on the invite, he has to sign in with that number. Then:

  • He’s on your team, and his first text already works with your company’s tools. By default a new member can create and look things up but not send invoices, quotes or emails; you can change that any time on the Connections page.
  • His welcome text says who added him: “Hi Mike 👋 Ryan added you to Garcia Plumbing.”
  • You get one text: “Mike just joined Garcia Plumbing. They can start texting me now.”

If Mike texts Tack from the invited number before tapping the link, he gets his join link back right away.

Invite links work once and expire after 14 days.

Tack is priced per person. If your plan has a free seat (or you’re on a trial), the invite is made right away. If adding someone needs one more seat and that changes your price, the owner hears the new price first and nothing happens without a yes:

Adding Mike takes your team to 4 seats, so your plan goes from $117 to $156 a month, prorated for the rest of this period. Want me to add the seat and set up the invite?

Admins who run out of seats are told to ask the owner. On the Solo plan, you’ll get a link to switch to Crew.

Team on your account dashboard shows everyone on your team and the invites still waiting. For each invite you can:

  • Copy link, to send it any way you like.
  • Text it again, which opens your Messages with the invite written out.
  • Cancel, so the link stops working.

You can create invites there too, with the same choices for role and company tools.

You have 5 personal invites to give to other owners and operators. Text:

invite a friend

get me an invite link

dame mi enlace de invitación

You get your personal link, how many invites you have left, and a link that opens Messages with a short note from you. The same card is on the dashboard’s Overview.

Each invite works for one new account. When it’s used, it counts against your 5 and the next time you ask you get a fresh link.

Once, after your 10th task, your assistant may mention your invites at the end of a reply. It never asks again.

When Tack is invite-only, a new account needs a team invite or a friend’s invite link. People who already have an account always sign in as usual. If someone without an invite tries, they’re told it’s invite-only and to ask someone who uses it.
