Google Drive

Text photos and PDFs with a folder name and they land in that folder in your Google Drive. Keep running notes in a Google Doc, get folder links, see what's in a folder and share it, all by text. Built, not open yet; each person connects their own Google account.

Built, not open yetFiles

Built, not open yet. Everything on this page is built. You can connect Google Drive once our Google Drive app is approved and set up. Ask in your thread and we'll text you when it's ready.

Built, not open yet. The Google Drive actions below are built. You can connect Drive once Google finishes verifying our app. Until then, ask in your thread and we’ll text you when it’s ready.

You text What happens in Google Drive
(3 photos) “File these under 44 Elm” Saves the photos in your 44 Elm folder, and makes the folder if you don’t have one yet
(PDF) “Save this to the Henderson folder” Saves the PDF there with its own name
“Make a folder for the Garcia job” Makes the folder
“What’s in the 44 Elm folder?” Lists the newest files in it, with the folder’s link
“Send me the link to the Henderson folder” Texts you the link
“Share the 44 Elm folder with jane@x.com” Asks you first, then shares it (view only unless you say she can add or edit). Google emails her the link
“Rename the Garcia folder to Garcia kitchen” / “Move the Patel contract to the Patel folder” Renames or moves it
“Start a new doc for Smith” / “Put this in Google Docs instead” Starts a Google Doc with your text. It’s now your current doc
“Also, customer wants matte finish” Adds the note on a new line at the end of your current doc
“Add to the Smith doc: tile delivered” / “Switch to the Henderson notes” Writes to that doc, or just switches to it, and it becomes your current doc

Everything goes in one folder in your Drive called Assistant, with a folder inside it per client, job or address. Google Docs the assistant starts go in the Assistant folder too. Photos your phone named something like IMG_2041.HEIC are saved as 44 Elm 2026-10-25 1.heic, … 2, and so on; a file with a real name keeps it.

Saving, making folders, renaming and moving happen right away, and you get a short reply. Text undo within 10 minutes to take back the last one: saved files and a new, still-empty folder go to Drive’s trash (restorable for 30 days), a renamed or moved file goes back, a doc it started goes to the trash, and a note it added comes back out (unless someone has typed onto the end of that line since). Sharing always asks first, because Google emails the person. Undo removes their access, but the email has already gone out. See Confirmations and undo.

See the full list of what the assistant can do in Google Drive, with example texts, the API call behind each action, and which ones ask first or can be undone.

Start a doc and keep adding to it by text. The assistant remembers which doc you’re on, so your notes don’t scatter across new pages.

  • Start one: “start a new doc for Smith”, or “turn my 2pm Granola meeting into a doc” (it writes up the summary and action items). That doc is now your current doc.
  • Keep adding: “also, customer wants matte finish”, a voice note, or “one more thing…” goes at the end of the current doc. The reply names it: “Added to Garcia job notes.”
  • Another doc: “add to the Smith page: tile delivered” writes there and makes it current. “Switch to the Henderson notes” makes it current without writing anything.
  • Business tasks stay where they belong: “invoice Henderson $450” or “note for Henderson: gate code 4412” go to your business tools as usual (a customer note goes on their record in Jobber or your CRM). If a note could go either way, the assistant asks once.
  • Done: “done with that” (or “listo con eso”) closes the doc, and it closes on its own after a day without notes. Undo takes the last note back out.
  • Where new docs go: with both Notion and Google Docs connected, the assistant asks once which to use and remembers it. Text “use Google Docs for notes” to change it.
  • A Google account (Gmail or Google Workspace) with space in its Drive.
  • Any member of your Tack team can connect their own Google account. Each person’s Drive is personal: the files go in their Drive.
  • Drive comes with the same Google connection as Gmail and Google Calendar. If you connected Google before Drive was added, the first time you ask for something in Drive the assistant texts you a link to allow it. Email and calendar keep working either way.
  1. Text “connect Google Drive.” The assistant texts you a secure link.
  2. Tap the link. The page lists what each Google permission is for (see Permissions requested). Tap Agree and continue to Google.
  3. Sign in to Google and choose your account.
  4. Leave the Drive box ticked (it says the app can see, edit, create and delete only the specific Drive files you use with it) and tap Continue.
  5. You’re returned to Tack, and the assistant confirms in your thread.

You can also start from Connections in the account dashboard. The link works once and expires after 15 minutes.

Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive share one Google connection, so Google’s consent screen asks for all of these at once:

Permission Why
Send email on your behalf (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send) Send the emails you ask for, after you confirm each one. It can’t read, search or delete your email
View and edit events on all your calendars (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events) Answer “what’s on my calendar”, find free time, and add, move or cancel the events you ask for (Google Calendar)
See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file) Save the photos and files you text in, organize and share them when you ask, and start and add notes to Google Docs there (Google Drive). It can’t see the rest of your Drive
Your email address and Google account ID (email, openid) Know which account is connected and which address your emails come from

Only send email is required. If you untick the calendar or Drive box, email still works, and the first time you ask for something on your calendar or in Drive the assistant texts you a link to allow it.

Before you go to Google, the connect page lists what each permission is for. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See the privacy policy, section 5a.

For Drive, drive.file is the narrowest permission Google offers, and it covers Google Docs the assistant starts, so there’s no separate Docs permission. The assistant can’t see the rest of your Drive: not your other folders, not files other people shared with you, and not files you put in its folders yourself from the Drive app or website.

  • In your Google Account (anyone): go to myaccount.google.com/connections, select Tack and remove its access. This also disconnects Gmail and Google Calendar.
  • By text: text disconnect Google and say yes when the assistant asks.
  • On the Tack website: go to Connections, open Manage connection next to Google and tap Disconnect.

Files and folders the assistant saved stay in your Drive. You own them.

  • Disconnecting (any of the ways above) revokes our access with Google and deletes the stored tokens right away. If you remove our access in your Google Account instead, we notice the next time we refresh the connection and delete the tokens within 7 days.
  • What stays after you disconnect: your activity history keeps a record of each action, so you can look back at what was done: for an email, the recipient, subject, text and time; for a calendar change, the event details; for Drive, the file and folder names and links. We don’t keep a copy of your mailbox, calendar or Drive.
  • To delete your activity history too, delete your account: on the account website, go to Settings and tap Delete my account, or email privacy@asktack.com. We text you to confirm, then delete your messages, activity history, connections and profile, except records we must keep by law (such as billing records). Backups are deleted within 30 days.

Emails you sent, events on your calendar and files in your Drive are yours and stay in your Google account. See the privacy policy, sections 4 and 5a.

  • Google Drive is built but not open yet: you can’t connect it until Google verifies our app.
  • The assistant only works with what it made. It can’t file into a folder you created yourself in Drive, and “what’s in the folder?” only lists files it saved there. Move your own folder into the Assistant folder in Drive and it still won’t see it; ask the assistant to make the folder instead.
  • Up to 20 files per text, 100 MB each.
  • iPhone photos are saved as they arrive, usually HEIC. Drive stores them as is; some computers and older apps can’t preview HEIC.
  • Shared drives (Google Workspace team drives) aren’t supported yet; everything goes in your own My Drive.
  • Notes only go to Google Docs the assistant started. It can’t add to a doc you made yourself in Google Docs.
