Built, not open yet. The Google Calendar actions below are built. You can connect Google Calendar once Google finishes verifying our app. Until then, ask in your thread and we’ll text you when it’s ready.
What the assistant can do
Section titled “What the assistant can do”| You text | What happens in Google Calendar |
|---|---|
| “What’s on my calendar tomorrow?” | Lists your events for the day |
| “When am I free Thursday?” / “Find me a 2 hour slot Monday” | Finds open time between your events |
| “Put the Henderson AC tune-up on my calendar tomorrow at 2” | Adds the event to your main calendar |
| “Move the Henderson appointment to Thursday at 3” | Moves it |
| “Cancel my 4pm today” | Asks you first, then cancels it |
| “Send sarah@example.com an invite for a site walk Monday at 9” | Asks you first, then adds the event and Google emails her the invite |
Adding and moving an event happen right away, and you get a short reply. Text undo within 10 minutes to take it back. Cancelling an event and sending an invite always ask first, because they can email other people. The assistant won’t move an event that has guests or that someone else organizes, because Google would email the guests. See Confirmations and undo.
See the full list of what the assistant can do in Google Calendar, with example texts, the API call behind each action, and which ones ask first or can be undone.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- A Google account (Gmail or Google Workspace) with Google Calendar.
- Any member of your Tack team can connect their own Google account. Each person’s calendar is personal.
- Google Calendar comes with the same Google connection as Gmail and Google Drive. If you connected Google without the calendar box ticked, the first time you ask about your calendar the assistant texts you a link to allow it. Email keeps working either way.
How to connect
Section titled “How to connect”- Text “connect Google Calendar.” The assistant texts you a secure link.
- Tap the link. The page lists what each Google permission is for (see Permissions requested). Tap Agree and continue to Google.
- Sign in to Google and choose your account.
- Leave the calendar box ticked and tap Continue.
- You’re returned to Tack, and the assistant confirms in your thread.
You can also start from Connections in the account dashboard. The link works once and expires after 15 minutes.
Permissions requested
Section titled “Permissions requested”Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive share one Google connection, so Google’s consent screen asks for all of these at once:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Send email on your behalf (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send) |
Send the emails you ask for, after you confirm each one. It can’t read, search or delete your email |
View and edit events on all your calendars (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events) |
Answer “what’s on my calendar”, find free time, and add, move or cancel the events you ask for (Google Calendar) |
See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file) |
Save the photos and files you text in, organize and share them when you ask, and start and add notes to Google Docs there (Google Drive). It can’t see the rest of your Drive |
Your email address and Google account ID (email, openid) |
Know which account is connected and which address your emails come from |
Only send email is required. If you untick the calendar or Drive box, email still works, and the first time you ask for something on your calendar or in Drive the assistant texts you a link to allow it.
Before you go to Google, the connect page lists what each permission is for. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See the privacy policy, section 5a.
Disconnecting and revoking access
Section titled “Disconnecting and revoking access”- In your Google Account (anyone): go to myaccount.google.com/connections, select Tack and remove its access. This also disconnects Gmail and Google Drive.
- By text: text disconnect Google and say yes when the assistant asks. We tell Google to revoke our access and delete our stored tokens.
- On the Tack website: go to Connections, open Manage connection next to Google and tap Disconnect.
Events the assistant added stay on your calendar.
Deleting your data
Section titled “Deleting your data”- Disconnecting (any of the ways above) revokes our access with Google and deletes the stored tokens right away. If you remove our access in your Google Account instead, we notice the next time we refresh the connection and delete the tokens within 7 days.
- What stays after you disconnect: your activity history keeps a record of each action, so you can look back at what was done: for an email, the recipient, subject, text and time; for a calendar change, the event details; for Drive, the file and folder names and links. We don’t keep a copy of your mailbox, calendar or Drive.
- To delete your activity history too, delete your account: on the account website, go to Settings and tap Delete my account, or email privacy@asktack.com. We text you to confirm, then delete your messages, activity history, connections and profile, except records we must keep by law (such as billing records). Backups are deleted within 30 days.
Emails you sent, events on your calendar and files in your Drive are yours and stay in your Google account. See the privacy policy, sections 4 and 5a.
Limits and known issues
Section titled “Limits and known issues”- Google Calendar is built but not open yet: you can’t connect it until Google verifies our app.
