Outlook

Send a short email from your own Outlook or Microsoft 365 address by text, always after you confirm. Built, not open yet; each person connects their own mailbox.

Built, not open yetEmail

Built, not open yet. Everything on this page is built. You can connect Outlook once our Outlook app is approved and set up. Ask in your thread and we'll text you when it's ready.

Built, not open yet. Sending email from Outlook is built. You can connect Outlook once our Microsoft app is live. Until then, ask in your thread and we’ll text you when it’s ready.

You text What happens
“Email sarah@example.com that we’re running 20 minutes late” Writes a short email from your words and sends it from your Outlook, after you confirm
“Send an email from Outlook to dave@patelhomes.com saying the part came in” Same
“Email mike@acme.com the link https://example.com/warranty” Sends a short email with that link

Every email asks first. The assistant shows you who it’s going to and the subject, and sends only when you say yes. An email can’t be unsent, so there’s nothing to undo.

The email goes out from your own address, so replies come to your inbox, and it shows up in your Sent Items.

See the full list of what the assistant can do in Outlook, with example texts, the API call behind each action, and which ones ask first or can be undone.

  • A Microsoft 365 work or school account, or a personal Outlook.com account.
  • Any member of your Tack team can connect their own mailbox. Each person’s Outlook is personal: only they can send from it.
  • Some companies require an IT admin to approve new apps in Microsoft Entra ID. If you see “Need admin approval,” ask your admin.
  1. Text “connect Outlook.” The assistant texts you a secure link. (It also sends one on its own the first time you ask it to email someone.)
  2. Tap the link, then Continue to Outlook.
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  4. Review the permissions and tap Accept.
  5. You’re returned to Tack, and the assistant confirms in your thread.

You can also start from Connections in the account dashboard. The link works once and expires after 15 minutes.

Permission Why
Send mail as you (Mail.Send) Send the emails you ask for
Sign you in and read your basic profile (openid, profile, email, User.Read) Know which address the emails come from
Maintain access (offline_access) Keep working without asking you to sign in again
Have full access to your calendars (Calendars.ReadWrite), asked separately Check, add, move and cancel events on your own Outlook calendar. Not part of the first sign-in: the first time you ask about your calendar, the assistant texts you a link that asks for it

The assistant can’t read your mailbox or contacts.

Why calendar is asked separately: many work accounts only let an IT admin approve calendar access. Asking for it later means everyone can connect Outlook for email, and only calendar waits for an admin if your company requires one. If Microsoft says “Need admin approval” on the calendar link, ask your admin to approve Tack; email keeps working meanwhile.

If your company needs IT to approve the app, book a 15-minute setup call and invite them.

Microsoft doesn’t let apps revoke their own access, so removing Tack takes two steps:

  1. On Tack: text disconnect Outlook and say yes, or go to Connections on the website, open Manage connection next to Outlook and tap Disconnect. You can disconnect your own Outlook; owners and admins can disconnect anyone’s. We delete our stored tokens right away, so the assistant stops sending from your mailbox. When you disconnect by text, the reply includes Microsoft’s link for step 2.
  2. In your Microsoft account: remove Tack’s access. Work or school accounts: go to myapps.microsoft.com, find Tack and choose Manage → Revoke permissions. Personal accounts: go to your Microsoft account’s privacy settings and remove Tack from the apps that can access your info.

If you only remove it on Microsoft’s side, our next attempt to use it is refused and we mark the connection disconnected.

Emails already sent stay in your Sent Items.

  • Outlook is built but not open yet: you can’t connect it until our app is live.
  • One recipient per email, plain text with an optional link. No attachments, CC or BCC.
  • If you don’t use it for 90 days, Microsoft ends the connection and the assistant asks you to reconnect.
