# Use Siri and the share sheet

> Two iPhone Shortcuts that text the assistant for you. Talk to it through Siri, or send a photo, PDF, file or link from any app's share sheet with a note. How to install them, plus location automations you set up yourself.

There's no app to install. Two free **Shortcuts** for iPhone send texts to Tack from your own Messages, so they work exactly like texting it yourself: the reply comes back in your usual thread.

| Shortcut | What it does | Download |
|---|---|---|
| **Tell Tack** | Say *"Hey Siri, Tell Tack"*, then what you need. Your words are texted to the assistant. | [Tell Tack](https://asktack.com/shortcuts/Tell%20Tack.shortcut) |
| **Send to Tack** | In the share sheet of Photos, Files, Safari, Voice Memos and other apps. Sends what you shared, plus an optional note. | [Send to Tack](https://asktack.com/shortcuts/Send%20to%20Tack.shortcut) |

Both shortcuts send to **Tack's number**, +1 (856) 563-4805, the same one you already text. Nothing else is sent anywhere, and you can open either shortcut in the Shortcuts app to see every step.

## Installing them

1. On your iPhone, open this page in **Safari** and tap a download link above. If Safari asks, tap **Download**, then open the file from the downloads button (the arrow in the address bar).
2. The **Shortcuts** app opens with a preview. Tap **Add Shortcut**.
3. The first time a shortcut runs, iOS may ask whether it can send messages. Tap **Always Allow**, or it asks every time.

Repeat for the other one. To remove a shortcut later, press and hold it in the Shortcuts app and tap **Delete**.

## Tell Tack (Siri)

1. Say **"Hey Siri, Tell Tack"** (or press and hold the side button and say it).
2. When Siri starts listening, say your request, for example *"book Henderson Tuesday at 2, AC not cooling"*.
3. It stops listening when you pause, and texts what you said to the assistant. Check Messages for the reply, and answer any question there.

Say the shortcut's name first, then the request. Siri doesn't pass words spoken in the same breath as the name to a shortcut.

You can also run it from a Home Screen icon, the **Action button**, or **Back Tap** (Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap). Dictation uses your iPhone's language, so it works in Spanish too.

## Send to Tack (share sheet)

1. In Photos, Files, Safari, Voice Memos or another app, tap **Share**.
2. Scroll the list of actions and tap **Send to Tack**. (Not there? Tap **Edit Actions** at the bottom of the share sheet and add it to your favorites.)
3. Type a note if you want, like *"for the Henderson job"*, and tap **Done**. Leave it empty to send just the item.

It texts the shared photos, PDFs, files, voice memos, links or text to the assistant, then your note as a second text. The assistant reads the two together, the same as if you'd sent a photo and then a line about it. Tap **Cancel** at the note and nothing is sent.

What the assistant does with a photo or file depends on your connected tools. See [Texting photos](https://asktack.com/docs/photos/) for the photo limits.

## Location automations (set up yourself)

iPhone automations can't be shared as files, but one takes about a minute to make. For example, text *"arrived at 412 Oak St"* when you get to a job site:

1. Open **Shortcuts**, tap **Automation**, then **New Automation** (or **+**).
2. Choose **Arrive**, tap **Location**, search for the job-site address and tap **Done**. Use **Leave** instead for *"left 412 Oak St"*.
3. Choose **Run Immediately**, then tap **Next** and **New Blank Automation**.
4. Add the **Send Message** action. In the message, type *arrived at 412 Oak St*. For the recipient, pick Tack from your contacts (the contact card it sent when you started), or type +1 (856) 563-4805. Then tap the arrow on the action and turn off **Show When Run**, so it sends without opening Messages.
5. Tap **Done**.

The same steps work with **Time of Day** in step 2, for example to text *"what's on tomorrow?"* every weekday at 5 PM. Your location stays on your phone: the assistant only gets the text the automation sends.
