Getting started takes about two minutes, and you never create a password.

## 1. Sign in with your phone

On the website, tap **Text to sign in**. Your phone opens a message to Tack with a sign-in code already written in. Send it, then say **yes** when we text back to check it's you. Details are on [Signing in](https://asktack.com/docs/signing-in/).

By tapping **Text to sign in** you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, confirm you're 18 or older, and agree to receive messages about your account and the requests you make. The exact wording is shown above the button.

The thread is with +1 (856) 563-4805. Save it as a contact so you can find it again. Tack only texts people who texted it first, so you always start the conversation.

## 2. Finish your profile

Next comes a short form. Enter your name, email and date of birth (you must be 18 or older), and confirm you understand that Tack uses AI to act in the tools you connect. You can also opt in to a daily morning summary. It stays off unless you check the box.

## 3. Connect a tool

The profile form asks which tools you use; pick any that apply (see [Tell us which tools you use](https://asktack.com/docs/your-tools/)). QuickBooks Online connects with one tap: you approve access on QuickBooks' own sign-in page, and you're done. Text "disconnect QuickBooks" any time to undo it. See [Connecting your tools](https://asktack.com/docs/connecting-your-tools/).

You can also skip this step. When you ask for something that needs a tool that isn't connected, the assistant texts you a link to connect it.

## 4. Send your first request

Text it the way you'd text the office:

> Book Henderson Tues 2pm, AC not cooling

The assistant replies with what it did, or asks one short question if something's unclear. Sending to customers, money and deletes always wait for your OK, and you can text "undo" to take back what it just created. See [Confirmations and undo](https://asktack.com/docs/confirmations-and-undo/).

Prefer Spanish? Text in Spanish, or text "Spanish please". See [English and Spanish](https://asktack.com/docs/languages/).

## Choosing which tool

When more than one of your connected tools could hold something, the assistant asks once and remembers. With HubSpot and QuickBooks connected:

> Add an account Amy's Birds
>
> *Add Amy's Birds to HubSpot, QuickBooks, or both?*
>
> HubSpot
>
> *Added Amy's Birds to HubSpot. I'll put new contacts there from now on.*

It remembers one choice per kind of thing: new customers and contacts; leads, deals and follow-ups when you have two CRMs; invoices and estimates (QuickBooks, Jobber or Housecall Pro); jobs and scheduling (Jobber or Housecall Pro); photos and files (CompanyCam, Procore or Google Drive); your calendar (Google, Outlook or iCloud); your mailbox (Gmail or Outlook); and notes and docs (Notion or Google Docs). "Both" puts a new customer in your CRM and in QuickBooks, Jobber or Housecall Pro, and each one can be undone on its own.

Invoices are the one thing it doesn't ask about: until you pick, they go to QuickBooks if it's connected, otherwise Jobber.

- **Naming a tool always wins:** "add Amy's Birds to QuickBooks" goes to QuickBooks whatever the default is.
- **To change a default,** just say so: "use Jobber for invoices", "use Salesforce for contacts" or "always put customers in QuickBooks". It confirms in one line.
- **Or pick them in the dashboard:** [Settings → Default tools](https://asktack.com/app/settings/) has one row per kind of work, listing only the tools you've connected that can do it. Changes save as you pick, and anything you set by text shows up there too. Each person on a team picks their own.

**Businesses vs. people.** If you add a "contact" whose name sounds like a business, it checks first: *"Is Amy's Birds a company? I can add it as a company with Amy as the contact."* Say yes and it adds the company, then Amy as a contact linked to it. "Amy at Amy's Birds" is read as Amy, who works at Amy's Birds, so there's no question.

## Not on an iPhone?

That's fine. +1 (856) 563-4805 is a regular phone number: on iPhone, iPad and Mac your texts go by iMessage, and on Android they're normal text messages (SMS). Everything works the same either way, except that tapbacks and inline replies depend on your phone.

## Stopping messages

- Reply **STOP** (or UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT or STOPALL; in Spanish **ALTO**, PARAR, DETENER or BAJA). The assistant confirms once, then stops replying in that thread until you opt back in.
- Reply **START** (or UNSTOP; in Spanish INICIAR or REANUDAR) to turn it back on.
- Reply **HELP** (or INFO; in Spanish **AYUDA**) for a short help message with a link to these docs and a support email.

The keyword has to be the whole message. "Stop the Patel job" goes to the assistant as a normal request. A bare **CANCEL** (or CANCELAR) gets a question back: did you mean the pending action, or all messages?
